A long time ago, I wrote in about SC joint hypermobility. Turns out it was a compensation for very limited mobility at the shoulder. Internal rotation was 20*, flexion was 145*. I was prescribed the sleeper stretch to increase IR, but I find it to be a painful stretch. The pain is located more towards the posterior/superior. I can touch the area and feel tenderness. Is this normal for someone having such restricted ROM?
You motion is quite limited and will take some time for you to improve. Aggressive stretching can lead to more pain and distrubed sleep. It is a balance of stretching enough to benefit but not being miserable.
In some cases improve the motion can be very painfull. If the pain is terrible and sleep is screwed up an injection may help with the process.
If you can 7-10 degrees a week with internal rotation youare moving in the right direction at a good pace.
If yo uhave questions you can call me 315 422-2912
