I just started experimenting with my deadlift form and found that i could add about 30 lbs to it if i widened my stance to slighlty wider than shoulder width. It didn't look quite sumo but it didn't look like conventional. I'm curious now about switching to sumo. I've read the articles on the site but none seem to mention how wide my feet should be apart. Any way to figure this out or a good rule of thumb?
Chris Watch old videos of Eddy Coan he was not a wide sumo, he was a fairly narrow sumo. I used this stance to pull my first 600 and first 700, my first 800 and 500 were narrow conventional. The middle of my shins were right inside the power rings, feet pointed out for this modified sumo stance. Ed Coan pulled 901 this was and later pulled 887 conventional, meaning the transference is there if you switch back.
