training for a meet seems easy in the begining stage but I have problems w/ the last 3or4wks on what I should be doing as far as rep range, bands, chains,or straight weight Im a gear liftr. thanks I enjoy ur log
If you are doing well in the beginning stages of your meet training then you have won the biggest part of the battle. You get strong in the early parts of your training. The last few weeks you just have to make sure not to "f" it up. I take one of my heavisest training lifts at 3 weeks out. After that I am pretty much delaoding.
I deload in a variety of ways throughout my training. During those last few weeks you could either get out of your shirt completely and do a few raw singles on the bench or floor press with no more than 80% of your max. You could also take a one of those weeks and go with an 80% lift in a looser shirt, if you have one.
I also recommend a few sets of assistance, but with light weight for a few sets of higher reps. Just get some blood flowing.
Just come up with a plan that you are comfortable with. Make sure you are not working too hard. You did all the hard work months before. Just keep the blood pumping, keep your body healthy, eat, and sleep well.

Lift smart, Vincent Dizenzo
