Cable Chest Press

Cable Chest Press

Category: Supplemental and rehab

Muscles Targeted: Chest, Shoulders, tricpes abs

Let's forget about the "functional aspects" of this lift as we have all heard too much on this already. This is a grear movement for developing the lower part of the bench press as well as making the pec region bullet proof against pec injuries.

The one question I get asked all the time is "How can I come back from a pec tear?". This is one of the movements you will need to use. This is also a great movement for building up the front delts and pecs,

To do this grab the handles and step away from the machine (I assume you have already added a ton of weigh to the machine). Hold the handles close to your sides with the cables pulling the weight toward the back. Do not hold the handles against the body, Let the shoulders and pecs take the blunt of the stress. From here press toward the front. As you press take your hands from a thumb up position to a thumbs in position. This will help create a tighter contraction in the pec region. Oh, keep your damn chest up!
