Jo,
I am dealing with sciatica, seems similar to what you are going through. Have you had any luck with the tennis ball piriformis thing? I have just started that along with the foam roller. I can squat fine with the SS bar, I can deadlift conventional & sumo, I can even do good mornings, but when it comes to arching a straight bar out of the monolift I get a serious shooting pain down the right side of my back into my ass cheek. That being said I set up a straight bar or Buffalo bar & start to squat, but the SS bar is right there & if I feel pain, I switch bars immediately. No real solution, but I get the session done. Good luck & write if you find a solution because I am at wit's end with this thing.

Derek,

It's good to hear that you have been able to find a way to work around your pain.

The tennis ball has helped. It was quite painful to start with, but I feel less pain now and seem to have fewer adhesion's too. I believe Jim used a lacrosse ball and it helped his sciatica too.

I also recommend you stretch your hamstrings. I think it has helped more than the others since I had little to no flexibility.

Make it rain,
Jo Jordan
