Hi all, I have a comp looming up which has a weigh-in 2 hours before lift-off. I've water manipulated once before using Brian Schwab's article as a guide (http://articles.elitefts.com/articles/powerlifting-articles/4-day-guide-how-to-cut-for-a-short-weigh-in/). Whilst I made weight quite comfortably I did have energy issues (felt like a zombie 20 minutes before squatting), I was just wondering what is an ideal way of putting the weight back on in the limited time span? I'm thinking drinking 7lbs of gatorade/water straight after weigh-in and hoping my stomach settles by lift off? (I had no appetite last time)
A two hour weigh-in? Don't bother cutting water. Only cut water of you have a 24 hour weigh-in.
I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it's the truth. You're going to feel the same way you did last time.
Are you setting a World Record? My guess is no. Stop worrying about lifting in a weight class and go out and lift. Get as big and bloated as you can for this contest. Give yourself every chance to succeed and put up some PR's. Dehydrating and trying to put the weight back on in 2 hours is a guaranteed recipe for failure. you said it yourself.
World Records + 24 hour Weigh-ins = maybe consider dehydrating
Other than that, don't do it.
