Amy, when you say "not wrapping my thumb under the bar" do you mean in terms of hand positioning or do you mean that you're going with a thumbless/"suicide" grip on the axle?

Hey there! Yes! Thumbless is exactly what I mean.

Try it out both ways, you will feel an immediate difference in your press. Thumbless bring more lat into the press and changes the whole dynamic of the press IMO. It takes some work getting comfortable with the set up but it is widely used and advantageous for your press.

Disclaimer....I did a quick image search on strongman axle press. I came across pics of Marius and Big Z using a regular grip for their press. Obviously for them it works that way!
