Brandon,
First let me thank you for your training logs and video, I look foreword to them as they are very informative, and provide valuable information.
I was wondering what shoes are you wearing when you deadlift? I pull in socks and recently got a pair of chucks and I was really disappointed. Also, do you use those when you squat? And what is the benefit of those sleeves on your shins?
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Justin

Justin,

Thanks for the kind words and support, and glad you are liking the content.

My deadlift shoes are the first gen New Balance Minimus (I don't think they make them anymore, but probably have a new generation out). These are completely flat, excellent grip, and very comfortable. Now that I pull sumo they don't have a ton of support for me to push out into, but the grip makes up for it. I have had these since undergrad and they are still holding up strong.

My squat shoes are the Adipowers. I have had these for a year, and I love them. Incredibly solid shoe with a very firm bottom and sole. They do have a pretty high heel, but they fit my squatting style as I'm more of an upright, low bar, close stance squatter. They grip the floor exceptionally well (which is why I bench in them as well).

I wear my knee sleeves on my shins to prevent the bar from tearing up my shins so bad. My shins are already a wreck, but since converting to sumo it's gotten even worse. At meets I'll still wear my long socks, but this is just a simple alternative during training so I'm not always using long socks. I'll warm up and do all my main work before deadlifts with them on my knees to get them warm and feeling good, but when I get to working sets on deadlifts I'll slide them down.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks again for the support.
