What are your top tips for bringing up a military press?

Richie,
If you mean strict press, work on developing the tightest starting position you can when you unrack the bar as that seems to be the most crucial aspect. IF you mean any overhead with leg drive, then learn how to do either a push jerk or a split jerk. This is mostly about technique and learning a new movement pattern. Work the exercise with light weight and warm up with a jerk until you feel the weight is too heavy then switch back to whatever technique you are strongest with. The more you do this, the heavier you will be able to go with using jerks until eventually the jerk becomes your primary overhead modality.
