I'm a powerlifter, but haven't competed in a few years and am thinking about getting into strongman. I'll soon be moving to southern Louisiana- anyone know any gyms in the area with strongman implements? Anywhere between Lafayette/Baton Rouge/New Orleans/Houma would be good.

Hi Zack. It does not look like there is a state chair for American Strongman for Louisiana. I did a general check and it looks like Dakmak Performance Fitness in Baton Rouge might have what you are looking for.

It looks like they have the following equipment: 2 yokes, wood platforms, metal and rubber weights, kettlebells 100lb max, Olympic Barbells, deadlift barbell, tsunami barbell, trap bar, football bar, 2 yolks/rack, 1 squat cage, rings, farmers handles, dbs up to 130 (powerblocks) sleds, sandbags, prowlers, large tires, t bar row, calf machine.

I cannot personally attest to their facility or anything else about them except they have identified themselves as a strongman gym.

If any readers have additional input for Zack, please pass it on to me via Q&A.

Best Wishes With Your Move,
Amy Wattles
