Recently started lifting, about 3.5 months now doing Wendlers 5/3/1 and so far worked up to 390DL and 330SQ @160lbs and I was wondering if or when I should start using a belt?
I suggest that you start using a belt now. I typically put mine for anything after 225.
A great general use belt is the 6.5 mm belt here:

It’s a great all around belt, very supportive but not overly ridged. It is great for lifters with smaller torsos too.
If you are looking for something really stiff, or your goals are to compete, use gear, than I would suggest the 13 mm belt here:
