My question is regarding your article "The Eight Keys, A Complete Guide to Maximal Strength Development.", which was awesome. In the benching section you very heavily emphasized tricep training, to the point of doing almost exclusively tricep accessory work on bench day, In addition to a main exercise designed to help lockout and tricep strength.
So my question is, is this intended for equipped lifters only? Would you say the same to a raw lifter?

That's a great question and I'm going to jump in on this as I know Dave is bogged with the holiday sales and such. Plus, I have a pretty good idea of his answer. ;)
Heavy tricep training has always been a staple for powerlifters. Geared powerlifting definitely needs more of the top end work and heavy overload stuff. Where the bench shirt ends, the triceps must kick in.
That's not to say that the raw lifter doesn't need that. But you can't neglect the lower end work as well.
You have to look at where your weakness is. Despite any program saying that "you have to have a strong lockout", if you are locking out 500 but can't get 315 off your chest, then there's a problem.
Build your triceps, yes, but build them in a way that will benefit where you're at now.
