Hey brandon, I've been pulling sumo for the past training cycle and just recently when pulling somewhat heavy, i feel a pain in my foot, toward the outside of my foot. Have you ever experienced this or know what it would be and how to combat this?
Thanks for the question man, and I hope training and things are going well.
It's really hard for me to pinpoint something directly, as it could be a number of things. But the first thing I would recommend would be to take a lacrosse ball to the bottom of your feet. Many people have super tight ankles (or poor ankle mobility) because of incredibly poor soft tissue quality in their plantar fascia.
From the sound of it though it sounds like you are applying plenty of pressure to the outside of your foot (a good thing!). I would also maybe see if it has anything to do with your footwear.
I can't nail anything down directly, but those are the two things that are directly jumping out to me. The great thing is, we sell lacrosse balls now, with our sweet logo on it. If you don't have one I can't recommend one enough. I find myself using mine all the time on my glutes, feet, pecs, and at meets to get things to loosen up.
