Any suggestions or advice with helping out/running a Special Olympics powerlifting team? I am the only person helping with any powerlifting experience. Thanks!

Hi Jeff,

Thatís cool that youíre interested in helping with the Special Olympics. It can be both very challenging and very rewarding. The most important advice I can give is to be patient and give positive reinforcement whenever possible.

Youíll want to make sure youíre aware of the Special Olympics Powerlifting rules. They basically follow USAPL/IPF rules except they donít allow bench shirts. If you havenít already seen it, hereís a link to all of the information you need to know regarding Special Olympics Powerlifting: http://www.specialolympics.org/powerlifting.aspx

That website provides a lot more information than I possibly could. Let me know if thereís any other information I can help provide from my experience.

Thank you for the question,
Brian Schwab
