Coming back to lifting after a long break. Main goal is general hypertrophy, but my bench press form keeps drifting back to my old powerlifting form; big arch, elbows tucked, touching low on the chest, almost to my belly. I'm trying to switch to a more neutral form, but have a hard time lifting any amount of weight like that. Constantly adjusting my form is also making my reps inconsistent. Should I keep fighting it, or just go with it?
The plan has to match the goal. If hypertrophy is what you want then why worry about the weight?
Most bodybuilders actually stay away from the bench and use incline as the primary movement. Give that a try and you won't have to worry about feeling conflicted about your bench form.
