Last days of training before Bodybuilding Show
Training was the same for each day, and it they were all low-carb days.
AM- 60 minutes fasted cardio
(Thursday I did a light upper body "pump" workout before intervals)
PM- 45 minutes of intervals mixed of mixed modalities. Basically, my goal was to go 45 minutes without stopping. Each day I did 20 intervals on the fan bike of 15s hard/45s easy, usually doing 5 or 10 at a time with a few minutes break in between. I would go back and forth between these and pushing the prowler with 25lb plates, pulling the sled backwards and forwards as well as rowing it with a 45lb plate, and climbing Jacob's ladder for a minute and a half.
Because I'd been doing mostly a similar form of cardio for the entire prep, I thought it'd be good to throw something at my body that it wasn't used to.
My bodyweight this morning was 168lb even.
I had my bodyfat tested again last week by Joe Dowdell. He's the owner of Peak Performance and an awesome trainer. I'm very particular with who I allow to test my bodyfat, especially this close to competition. And if I trust anyone with it, I trust him.
Anyway, it was the first day of my sodium load and second day of water loading (3 gallons/day) so it may have even read a little high.
But the number was 5.5% bodyfat.
I'm extremely happy with this
Yesterday was my last workout before the show. I was so goddamn relieved to finished pushing the prowler. 9 hours of cardio a week for the last few weeks turned me into a slightly different person. But after that last trip, I could feel the "old me" coming back a bit.
Taking today and Saturday very easy, starting to carb up and following Shelby's very specific protocol.
This may be my last log post before the competition.
see you on the other side,
