Speed Squat

Today we all kinda steered away from speed work. Everyone in the gym went pretty heavy and nobody really did any deadlifting either we did some stuff out of the ordinary.

Warm up

Step overs 30 each leg
45 degree hypers 1 set of 25

Raw box squat
140 x5
230 x5
320 x4
410 x3

820 x1
The 820 came up pretty good. I'm sorry I didn't get a video of the lift I forgot my camera.

Farmers walk with trap bar
450lbs 3 trips of about 60 yards

Tire flips 2 sets of 8 flips
Stopped there

Later at my house I did
Calf raises
315lbs 3 sets x20

ab wheel
4 sets x15

Today at the gym was alot of fun! I really like doing some different things every once in awhile. Somtimes I feel like I come in to the gym and it's just the same things over and over again so I like things like this to make it more interesting and fun. Also my friend Greg brought me two 8x4 sheets of half inch steel plate for my deadlift platform I'm going to build in my basement It should be pretty cool. I think that the strongman lifts help your endurance and also your grip. Today is the first time I have had really heavy weight on my back since my last full meet, and I don't feel that far off from where I should be. Some other lifters from the gym had a good day as well. We had two other lifters who made 680 box squats, one raw and one with briefs. I thought today's lifting was decent considering I'm weening myself off mountain dew and I'm suffering for it!
