SPF Outlaw Meet report with pics

I went down to Florida this past weekend to help my good friends and long time training partners Chad Walker and Kenny Richardson at the SPF Outlaw Meet in Tampa. Tommy Fannon put on an outstanding meet and both of my buddies had great meets.

Ken weighed in at 207lbs and at 52 years of age is still getting stronger and put up his best numbers ever. Ken started out hitting a PR 760 squat on his second attempt. Set up problems on his third prevented him from getting his first 800+ squat but based on his 760 he definitely looked good for it.

On bench Ken smoked his opener and his second but unfortunately the second was negated because one of our friends gave the press command before the head judge did lol. Ken's 3rd attempt bench at a PR 540 was clutch and technically perfect.

On deads Ken has been chasing a 700lb pull for quite awhile now and also a 2000lb total which 700 would give him here. He smoked his 650 opener and then went straight to 700. On his second he ripped it up hard but let the bar get out in front of him and missed it at his knees. On his third he was physically and psychology spent and didn't get it. Still he hit PRs in the squat, bench and total (1950) at 52 years old. I would say that's a pretty damn good day.

Chad Walker has been doing some huge lifting the last couple of years and this meet was his best yet. Chad weighed in at a svelte 331lbs at 6'2". Chad has been crushing his squats and this meet was no different. He went three for three at 990, 1040 and a PR 1080 and looked good for 1100+. He looks as solid and steady as anyone under that amount of weight and his depth is always good.

In the bench Chad again went three for three going 690, 730 and a PR 750 on his third. All three lifts were solid.

Going into deads Chad's main goal was to break the 2600lb total barrier for the first time. Chad had some minor injuries that affected his deadlift training and had pulled very little coming into this meet. Still he again went three for three at 705, 770 (to hit 2600) and then finished with a solid 800 for a big 2630lb PR total.

The craziest thing about Chad's lifting is that he is still on his way up and has much bigger numbers ahead of him. Expect him to be one of the top guys in the sport in the years to come.

Another lift of note was AJ Roberts nailing a perfect 910 bench on his second and then taking 975 for a ride before losing it forward. It amazes me how much he has improved over the last several years. Phenomenal lifter and super great guy.

As always it was great to see everyone and hang out afterward. Brian Carroll and his wife Ria, AJ Roberts and his girl Gracie, Chad, Ken and a bunch of other lifters along with Lauren and I all headed out to eat afterward and watch the UFC fights. Good times.

The pics are of Chad's 800lb third and Ken's 650 opener.
