10 lb practice weight cut
So, I'm mostly used to making around 20 lb weight cuts. Well, I just don't have that in me anymore. I don't mind the discipline of it, it's just that I can't sleep when I do it and that makes me anxious. I am an excellent sleeper and it's something I really love to do. Give me 7 straight hours a night and I can give you my best.
I figured I'd just go with a 10 lb cut this time around as I'm hovering around 285. So I know how to do 20, but don't really know how to do 10. For those of you who know me, I am very well planned out. Getting close to a meet and figuring out the 10lb cut would undo me. I don't want to under cut and heaven forbid over cut. A practice cut was in order.
I decided to keep it simple. No overhydrating. I hate drinking multiple gallons of water for days on end before a cut. Plus I feel like a doosh (yeah I spelled it that way on purpose) carrying around those gallon jugs. All I did was limit my food to 2 small meals of chicken breast and veggies early in the day. I had a cup of coffee in the morning and then sipped no more than another 6 oz of water prior to lunch. After that I just had a sip or two in the pm. I could go a few days without eating, but not drinking drives me crazy.
That alone dropped me 8.5 lbs. I am not going to change a thing. I figure when I wake the day of weigh ins I'll just take a hot bath and then throw on the sauna suit for the hour and a half ride. That should get the last few off.
I gotta give credit to Rhodes. He gave me th idea of a practice cut a while ago. I'm really glad I did it. Now the guess work is gone. I know what to do and I know it's not the least bit difficult.
