TPS Seminar Recap and Training in Boston

Took a red eye out to Boston on Thursday night, got in early Friday and got to spend a nice relaxing day there.

This was my 2nd seminar at TPS and a much more daunting task for me than the last time, since I would be the only presenter/coach for a 2 day seminar, that is a shit load of talking. There were 18 attendees, from all over the northeast and one even came all the way from San Diego (I wonder if he knew that my gym was only a 1 hour drive from him?). The first day was all lecture and they probably got sick of listening to me, as I certainly was sick of hearing my voice haha. I lectured from 9:30-4 with a 45 min lunch break. We covered the creation of the annual plan, using one of my HS football stars as a case study, to illucidate the reasoning behind the different choices made in selecting sprint/jump/throwing work, SPP drills, aerobic capacity development and general lifting. That topic covered about 4.25 hours of the lecture and the other time was all powerlifting talk and Q&A.

After that first day, I worked on my axle clean and press with Murph. This was my first time working on the axle but I felt much better than my first day with the log.




The second day of the seminar was all hands on stuff. We went through our regular warmup drills, different mobility stuff, power/speed work, sprint drills and technique, medicine ball throws, various jumping drills, bench and squat technique, and I showed them some of the special exercises that we use.

After the seminar on Sunday I did some work on the tire with Murph.

Thanks to all who came out and participated. TPS is an amazing facility with a great staff, it is really a special place and anyone who is anywhere near it should check it out.
