Team Training Update
Right now, we're putting together the summer programming for the kids. This starts up in mid-June, pretty much as soon as school lets out for the summer. The offseason programming at this school is a little tougher because it's a more affluent population, and the school has more money, hence there are more sports choices for the kids in the spring -- i.e., this place has baseball, lacrosse, track, etc, etc...and I'm finding most of our kids play another sport, especially our best guys. We're doing what we can at this point, and we're demanding 100% for the summer program so we can roll into camp the right way.
I've outlined this before, but here's what it's going to look like, for the most part:
DAYS: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays
TIME: 3:00 - 5:00 (hopefully)
1. WARM-UP: On the field, as a group. This is where we'll try to institute our 20 minute warm-up we'll use pre-practice and pregame.
2. POSITION-SPECIFIC DRILLS
7. ENERGY SYSTEM WORK
I'll figure out exactly what we're going to do based on ways my mind has changed over the past year, but this, still, is the order I figure we'll use. The only logistical bullshit comes into play in getting the kids into the weight room, then back down to the field (and making sure everything is brought back inside and put in its right place at the end of practice).
Obviously, the first week is the biggest pain in the ass -- primarily because it can take an hour to teach the kids how to line up the right way.
I will update this as we go along.
