Just thinking out loud.........

The meet is now 11 days away.

I was just thinking about the meet and thought I would share my thoughts. From a training stand point I feel more focused for this meet then I have in a long time. Since I started lifting at 242 at Nationals last August all my concentration has been on my diet. Training has been an after thought. From august of last year up to April of this year I have done 4 meets at 242 or lower. I even did 231 at the ARNOLD in March. And these are 2 hours weigh ins where you actually have to all but weigh what you compete at.

From April to May I stayed in the mid to high 240s. About 6 weeks or so ago I lost focus on my weight a hair and started to only give a shit about my training. As I let my weight slowly creep up a pound here or there my workouts just got better and better. I had been as high as 258 in early June so I tightened up a hair and began to back load strict. I was 252 June 29th and had to decided on whether or not to cut to 242. I know with 20 days of backloading I can loose a good 8 lbs and then water load to make weight. I had to take into account the variables. The meet is at 7:00 at night. While this sounds cool I’m not sure how a cut would work with that. Most meets I have woken up meet day dead on 242 and had to skip food or water until weigh ins. A night meet would mean not eating for 12 hours or so meet day as apposed to the typical 1-2 before a weigh in. The other issue is that dieting with an 8 month pregnant wife is impossible. All the ice cream trips and the eating out is insane. I lost my will power and this week I finally gave in. I ate like a mad man and today I weighed 257 again. I am definitely not cutting to 242 for this meet now lol. I just stopped at sheetz and slammed two chili cheese and slaw dogs 2 hours after I ate lunch. It was awesome. I have been in a haze since then. I decided I don’t care what I weigh meet day. I just made the decision and its already a nice change to only focus on the lifts and not the scale.

After this meet I have full intentions of getting back on my dieting horse and hitting 242 in December for the USAPL North east regional championships. Ill have 4 months to get my act together. I think I needed a mental break after the ARNOLD in April and I never fully took it. I’m taking it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s what is on my mind now.
