A View From PR Position
Today I knocked out one of my major goals for 2012. On my birthday, August 25, I got into a kayak and nearly died about 42.5 seconds into it. Three days later I was on my way to buy a kayak when my wife stopped me. Mostly she threatened me. I mean, persuaded me.
I'd set a goal for 2012 to take the kayak from where we keep it docked (4th restaurant on the beach) all the way back up the shore to the port. Everyone thought that I was crazy since they had all seen me die just trying to get it out a few hundred feet and back.
Thursday I set a HUGE PR with 2.02 miles logged and I had to get out and stop a few times to do so. There were some pretty crazy winds as well...but if we only trained in perfect conditions then we'd only train about once per year anyway...
I went to bed last night believing that today, Saturday, was the day for me.
I set out on a journey that lasted more than 2 hours long. 4.05 miles later I'd completed my goal for 2012.
A month ago I promised myself that once I'd achieved just this very thing, I could justify buying my very own kayak...so I'm on the hunt, and I think that I've found what I need. Because of my size it must be made for 2.5-4 persons as I sink the single sized kayaks (but boy it's a fun ride before I do...).
If work goes well through the month of October and mid November...I plan to purchase the exact Kayak and accessories that I need to begin my big journey into huge Kayak Biceps! Just imagine the possibilities!
