NYE Vacation Training

So, I’m at some kind of wacked out resort/hotel thing with my girlfriend in the middle of West Bumblef**k, Massachusetts with my girlfriend. Two things of note happened over the past 18 hours or so.

First, after dinner—a very interesting pizza place called Baba Louie’s—we went to the Price Chopper supermarket to get some groceries to bring back to the unit where we’re staying (it has a full kitchen). I’m in the coffee aisle getting my shit, when I see some dude rounding the corner wearing an EliteFTS sweatshirt. Coincidentally, I had one on, too (go figure). I pointed this out, we had a good laugh about it, and then we parted ways.

I then ran back and asked him where a good gym was in the area. He told me, I went and checked it out, and it was halfway decent.

Then, this morning, I decided to check out the gym in this place. It had the following:

1. “Squat Rack”: Although this is termed rather loosely. It would be more accurate to call it, “A sort of rack where squats can be done.”
2. Barbell
3. 365 pounds of weight.
4. Dumbbells up to 50 pounds, and a pair of 70’s.

And you know what? I just got in one of the best sessions I’ve had in a few weeks—1) Because people were watching me, and 2) Because I resolved, in my head, that I didn’t want to drive anywhere, I wanted to use this place, and I wanted to get the best training in that I could, NOW. I loaded the bar up with all the weight they had, and I did squats, RDL’s, good mornings, some light cleans, some dumbbell swings (low ceiling), and a Charlie Francis-style ab circuit. I was F****D UP but good after that one.

Couldn’t be happier. Now I can have a way better New Year’s Eve and not feel like such a fat bastard.
