Vacation training

I’m on vacation in the mountains of Colorado for the next few days, but training doesn’t stop. You may have seen Harry Selkow, Jason Pegg, and the EliteFTS Twitter and Facebook pages ask for decent gyms within “reasonable driving distance” of Vail, Colorado. This post was for me.

This led me to come to a few conclusions about the internet. The first 50 or so responses to each post were from people attempting to be funny, and failing. Then came the random useful piece of information, which I used today, training at a gym called Dogma Athletica in Edwards, CO.

This place isn’t half bad. They have two nice racks, two platforms, plenty of weight, Woodway treadmills, and pretty much everything I needed. Edwards, however, is at about 7500 feet, so I was worried a little about training at altitude, since I haven’t done anything above sea level for years. The responses I got when I asked people ranged from “do nothing and don’t train,” to James “The Thinker” Smith telling me how misinformed most people are (surprise).

Anyway, this was a concern, and I wasn’t sure what I’d be able to do. It didn’t seem to matter, though. I deadlifted and did everything I’d typically do on Thursday, with little to no effect from the altitude. Good shit.

Posted from Loaded Joe's in Avon, Colorado. Nice people, nice place.
