last weeks training

Pre-meet training
The last two weeks before a meet I back down my training a great deal. I do NO ME work and I cut my DE weight down under 50%. Most of my training is assistance work and rest. I was told a long time ago that you don't get any stronger three weeks from a meet, but you sure can get a lot weaker.

Unlike most lifters I do train the week of the meet. It keeps me from getting lazy and losing my mind. With this being meet week I will go to the gym on Tuesday and Wednesday like normal, but my workout will last only about 30-45 minutes. I’ll do a little assistance work and break a sweat and call it a day. Going home and sitting on my ass after work does me no good. I want to keep the week as normal as possible. I keep the same work schedule and training time. This keeps me from thinking about the meet too much. Some lifters take the whole week off and just think about the meet and by the time the meet gets here there already shot. I really try to keep meet week normal, and only start thinking about it at weigh-ins. just my two cents about meet week.
