I Have Coach Peal's Back

This post is a few days late in coming, but it’s an important one to people who know Butler University strength and conditioning coach Jim Peal—which I believe is a lot of you.

Coach Peal was diagnosed with colon cancer last week, and he could definitely use your thoughts and prayers.

I became friends with Coach Peal and Ross Bowsher, his former assistant, a few years back after being introduced by Jason Pegg. We hit it off immediately. Coach Peal is a throwback to those days where the strength coach on a college athletic team was the one guy on the staff who could actually kick your ass—and not some 140 pound dude with gel in his hair walking around with a polo shirt on.

Coach Peal is a kind, decent man—and his approach to coaching works, as evidenced by the success of the Butler basketball program over the past several years. He’s definitely one of the best people in this business, and if you’re on Facebook, there’s a page dedicated to his fight against cancer. It’s titled “I Have Coach Peal’s Back,” and I’d encourage all of you to like the page and help him out.

Angry Coach
