Competition - VID - Show Me state USPA

The USPA show me states meet turned out to be a hell of show. Clint Lowe did a fantastic job running and putting the event on. A lot of lifters were in the building. We had a total of 78, and only a small handful were bench only. So this meant 5 flights!!!!! Long day.

Not going to talk much about preparation, it is what it is for me. It works fine for where my expectations are and I am ok with how things go.

Since I was just going to compete at 181, I didn't bother worrying about weight. I just went about my business. Lately, I have not weighed more than 178 so that was that. My official weight was 176 at the scales.

Spent the rest of the day hanging out after that. Sleeping, eating, resting and texting like it always is before a meet. LOL

The day of, we got in around 8:30am. Because of how many flights there were, I literally did not squat until 1:30pm... it was nuts.
I had some questions in mind concerning my attempts, I literally had very little idea of what I was capable of because of the lack of training. But I did think I could EASILY open up with:

Squats - 788
Bench - 485
Deadlift - 633

And here is how the meet went for me:

Had a ton of fun this weekend. Competed against a tough little up and comer, he's going to do some damage in this sport. Micah Marino will be a name people will know soon enough. I also enjoyed the time with friends, Mike Alexander is someone I have been training with since 2006 and we finally got on the platform together again after a few years of being busy with life.

Mick Manley and Mandy Bennett made the trip to come out and help. And they came in handy, not only was I happy to have good friends there but we needed them there. Mick and Mandy are like family to me now so having them there period was awesome for me. So, thank you Mick and Mandy for all you do. Love you guys.

Best part about this meet was having a full fledged team there. Dave Larson, Markus Veirs, Jeff frank, greg denny, Amy and Mike Greeno were all there. The coolest part was they all had tremendous meets. Every single one of them PR'd and in a big way. They train their assess off and I guarantee you they wouldn't trade anything of that time for what the end result turned out to be. It's always worth it.

I will end this report with thank you's. I had a ton of help leading up to this, but Mike Greeno does a lot for me. Not only is he always there but willing to come in when he doesn't have to, to help. This guy is golden and I know for a fact how I made out Saturday was influenced by him. Landon Evans continues to help out when he can with programming, and he is an absolutely genius with this stuff.
I have to thank Jeremy Frey and Justin Winder for the help in the warm up room and platform as well. We had three guys from our team in the flight before mine so I was left solo on this with Greg Denny to warm up, Jeremy and Justin came through without hesitation while they were helping their training partner. Really appreciated that.
Of course, thanks to Mick and Mandy for their continued support, my wife for her amazing patience and willingness.

And of course, elitefts.com for their amazing support and generosity. Dave and Tracy have done an amazing job putting together a company that I am privileged to represent.

My plan now is to train raw, and try and compete on June 15th here in kansas city.
