Friday 5-10-13

I had a good hard workout planned for me and the guys today. Max hang snatch, max front squat and deadlifts.

Hang Snatch: I worked up to a 115kg lift and the kid Don hit a nice 90kg power snatch from the floor. We haven’t done these heavy in a while.

Front squat: I am proud to say that it has been two years now since tearing my quad and totally dislocating my knee and I smoked an all-time PR today. I hit 180kgs (396lbs) that looked even easier on the video that Don took than it felt doing. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot but I’m not a very good front squatter so I’ll take it. I’m thinking 200kgs is right around the corner for me. Don then hit a PR and our other partner Cory hit a PR as well. I must have inspired them with my gutsy performance.

Deadlifts: I worked up to 500lbs x 5, 5, then 8 reps. All reps were stop dead reps. All in all an exhausting workout. For me anyway.

Don’t forget about your mother this weekend. Go take her out to brunch, buy her a card or send her some flowers or whatever it is you people do. As for me I was going to write a personalized poem for my mom but I couldn’t think of a word that rhymed with ‘Marlboros’. Oh well, there goes that idea.
