New job and some raw squattin! With Video

After a long, and increasingly frustrating job search, I'm happy to say that I've finally accepted a position with EVF Performance in NYC!

I had actually been lifting there once a week for the last couple of months, because of the gyms's proximity to my mother's home (she's having some health problems so I stop by a few times a week). Following some staffing changes, Eric, the owner, knowing I was looking, asked me to come on staff and take over their strength classes and programming.

Looking forward to bringing authentic strength training back to NYC!

The following session was performed at EVF.


Wednesday was the final day in a 3 week wave of close stance safety squat bar squats. This was a humbling experience, especially since I'm weening off of my belt on these raw days. Just for the sake of pride, I wanted to handle at least 300lbs for this final day. so I used... 300 lbs.

Here's how I worked up:

bar (65) x a bunch
115 x 5
155 x 5
205 x 5
245 x 5
275 x 5
300 x 2 x 5
300 x 8

I was feeling good by the last set, so I pushed the reps and did 8. You can see the safety squat bar really rounding me over on the last rep.





Didn't have time for much else, but I finished with some kettlebell windmills. Range of motion is getting much better on these but I still have a noticeable difference between my right and my left.
