If you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough WIth Video

Monday was a shirt bench day at Apollon.

I've been holding back on bench in order to keep my technique sharp without burning out this far from a meet. the most I've taken this cycle has been 555, two weeks ago, and it was reasonably clean, but not exactly a smoke show.

I was planning on a small increase for this session, just to get back to opener range, but poorer judgement got the better of me and I got a little carried away.

Ever get carried away? Happened to me.

It went like this:

Bar for a million
95 x 5
135 x 3
185 x 1
225 x 1
275 x 1

Added Metal Catapult. Love this thing, by the way.

315 x 1
365 x 1

Put on my size 52 Ace which I recently had the arms taken in on, and took it to a 3-board

Promptly blew out one of the ne seams and stood around pissed at myself before going to my car and getting Black Beauty, my original (and now stinky) size 50.

kept the 3-board and hit 455

next up, 500 to a 2-board

then 550 to a 1-board.

I had only planned on going up to 565 or so, but my buddy Anthony Ditillo had just taken 600, and, well, I just couldn't resist.

Took it to the chest and hit it EASY!

After the lift, I was super ampped, and immediately got up and started berating the Ferret for no reason whatsoever. I still don't know why but it was fun.

By the way, look at how fat the Ferret is getting. He's the shapeless mass to the right of the screen.

In fairness, My shirtless hand-off man Anthony is no fitness model either, but he at least crushed 680 to a 1 board. that day.

Finished with 4 sets of 12 lat pull downs and 4 sets of 15 on the dip machine.

It's apparent that I really need to get out of this off-season mindset and start challenging myself more. This is about the strongest I've ever been this far off of a meet and I have a good chance to start the next meet cycle stronger then ever.

Based on today, I'm thinking of making 600 my opener at the next one and setting my sights at 675 for a third.
