Brief description of my 2014 XPC training cycle:

I wanted to put out a brief description of the program I am putting together for the XPC Finals in March 2014. I haven’t finalized anything, and this is without detail. I guess it’s just a chance for me to put up the idea and get some feedback.

I have had a good time training raw over the last few months. I took that into consideration when I was thinking about gearing up for the meet. I want to keep some moderate raw weight in my program, so what I have come up with will be a basic 3 week wave.

Week 1: Raw
Week 2: Medium Gear
Week 3: Full Gear

I’ll do this for all three lifts, but stagger the lifts so I’m not going all out on the same week for all three lifts. I think that is best for my joint health.

I am planning on a four month training cycle. That will give me only 6 times in my squat suit. That may change if the first time or two really suck. Same for all the gear. I need to make sure I still feel right in it and will be able to hit the platform and perform properly with so few geared sessions. But if it works I think this will allow my back to readjust to the heavy weight without overtaxing it and setting myself up for further injury.
