Event Day w/Video - 3 Weeks Out

I am currently training for The 2013 North American Strongman National Championship that will be held on October 18th and 19th in Denison, Texas. I’ll be competing in the Lightweight 200# division.

I just finished up with training events this morning. Everything went pretty well overall. I did miss a 175# dumbbell which I wasn’t too happy about. But it was a technical issue instead of a strength issue.

Everything else seemed pretty solid overall. Mentally I was dragging a little bit today and made a mistake on my keg carry medley by going to the wrong keg. Even with the mistake I still set a PR for time though – so I won’t complain too much.

Things do seem to be coming together very well. And this is the best I’ve felt and least beat up I’ve been going into Nationals – so I’m feeling good about this.

I’m a little under 3 weeks out – it’s getting very close. Weight is right on track and so is my strength and conditioning.

I’m really kicking the recovery up these final few weeks and have a couple massages scheduled, will be hitting Epsom salt baths regularly and sneaking in naps if/when possible. Lack of sleep is typically not a problem because my wife and I typically got to bed early – so for my nighttime sleep I average around 8 hours. And I can definitely tell when I don’t get enough sleep. But everything else will be increased.
