Deadlifts, Front Squats, Farmers w/VIDEO

I am currently training for The 2014 Arnold Amateur Strongman Fitness World Championships. This will be held at The Arnold Sports Festival Feb. 28th through March 2nd in Columbus, Ohio. I’ll be competing in the Lightweight 185# division.

Today felt freaking awesome in the gym. I felt strong, fast and explosive. Everything was "on". I still stuck with my program. Even though it was tempting to work up heavier than I had programmed. I just remind myself I'm training for something bigger than today. That also reminded me of something I shared on Facebook the other day:

People ask me how I can leave a few (1-3) reps "in the tank" when training. Or at times not make another jump up in weight. They say they know the purpose/benefit, but they just can't do it. They want to push them self to their limits every time they train - even if they know better.

It's quite simple really. It's the same way I stick to my diet. Or the same way I don't buy things I don't need. Or the same way I make time to read something daily. Or the same way I won't allow myself to have any debt.

It's called self-discipline.

We all have it. It's only when something is very important to you that you really implement it.

It's a conscious decision. A choice.

Trust me - I love training hard and killing myself in the gym just as much as the next meathead. But I also know when I'm smart about my training I progress faster and decrease my likelihood of injuries.

So I just remind myself -

"The one who trains the hardest and smartest wins the easiest."

Woke up again at 199 this morning. And my body weight typically runs higher early in the week. So I'm planning to see 197-198 soon, possibly by Friday.

For training on 0 carbs since Monday evening I felt exceptional well today during training.
