For those not in the know, blackjacks are a bit crossfitty, but since I was not doing any sumo medicine ball high pulls, I think this bodyweight conditioning session still falls into the acceptable category. Blackjacks are named after the card game, whereby one performs a series of bodyweight squats and pushups totaling 21 (a.k.a."blackjack" in the high stakes poker room world). So 20 squats+1 pushup, 19 squats+2 pushups, 18 squats+3 pushups...until you do 1 squat and 20 pushups. It works out to be 300 reps of each exercise with breaks taken as needed. Last time I did this I also did it as a stand alone conditioning session, same as today, and it made my quads sore as a blind rodeo clown in a ring fully of horny bulls. Credit for me doing this goes out to Dan Cenidoza and his suggestion of doing this as a Thanksgiving training session. I still prefer the prowler mile for my pre-gluttony training, but due to a number of factors, I had to break with tradition and forgo it this year. I'll be sure never to let this happen again, even if I have to dump the 45s and just push an empty prowler.
