Event Day with some PRs

I am currently training for The 2014 Arnold Amateur Strongman Fitness World Championships. This will be held at The Arnold Sports Festival Feb. 28th through March 2nd in Columbus, Ohio. I’ll be competing in the Lightweight 185# division.

Today was my last official full event day before The Arnold. And just like my last event day usually is I felt pretty crappy overall - even though I hit some PRs. I'm fighting off some sickness again - after fighting off a stomach bug last week. This is just the sore throat, congestion, coughing crap that's going around. I usually don't get sick when getting ready for a contest, it's usually right after. But with the added life stress combined with training it was bound to happen. The stress isn't anything bad and I'm good at managing stress, but sometimes life catches up with you. My wife and I sold our house at the end of December and are living somewhere temporarily. My commute to work used to be 6 minutes one way and is now 35 minutes one way. It's not horrible, but it's change. So I have to get up 35 minutes early and I get home 35 minutes later each day. And when you work at 6am and don't get done to 6 or 7pm most days - it makes for long days.

We have also been house hunting and have found a house and are under contract. But with that process came a lot of hours looking at houses online and in-person, making decisions, dealing with making an offer, the lending process, home inspection, appraisal, etc. And my wife is a little over 8 months pregnant. And I'm hoping he isn't' ready to make an appearance until after The Arnold. And being in a calorie deficit since early November really does take a toll on you. But I'm not bitching or complaining. I choose to diet. I choose to compete. I do it for no one else but myself. And I love it. And while my life is more hectic and chaotic now that it has been in a while I still haven't missed a training session, a meal, lost any sleep or slacked in my business or responsibilities. You've just got to make things happen.
