Event Day - 710# Yoke Squat for Reps and more w/Video

I am currently training for the task of becoming a new dad while balancing training, work, buying a new house, moving and life... While preparing for my next competition, St. Louis' Strongest Man. This will be held on May 10th. I’ll be competing in the Lightweight 231# division. I also will also be defending my title as St. Louis' Strongest Man 2013.

First week back to training went really well. These next few weeks are when things will get pretty interesting. Our son is expected anytime between now and the next couple of weeks. And we move into our new home this weekend. This combined with my normal work load and getting all my tax stuff together means things may get a little crazy. But I like the challenge and will get my training in. Because it's that important to me. And there's are 168 hours in a week. Surely I can find 3 hours each week to get some work in. I know I will.

We had an awesome event day yesterday. Pro HW World Level Competitor, Dimitar Savatinov, came in town Wednesday and stayed through yesterday to wrap up his final week of training before he competes at "The Worlds Strongest Man" competition next weekend in Los Angeles. Since he was in town we made a day of training and all met at IHOP for breakfast, then talked programming and BS for a while, then trained and followed that up with another big meal at a local steakhouse. It was a great day and I was glad to get to train with some people I hadn't' saw in a while.

Also - keep an eye out on Dimitar at World's this year. He's definitely a contender.

I worked up to event weight and height for the Yoke Squat at ST. Louis' Strongest Man. (I actually went 10# heavier as it was easier to load). Then I did a few runs with the sandbag/farmers event that will be in STL., but stayed submax here and just worked on speed.

On the nutrition side of things I'm really enjoying the increase in calories and can definitely tell I'm filling back out nicely. And I had a kick ass client bring me these two cuts of grass-fed beef I'll be enjoying this weekend.

I also had some make up work to get in that I ran out of time (and energy) for on Wednesday. I made this up on Thursday.

A1. SSB Good Mornings
3 sets of 10

A2. Hanging Leg Raises
3 sets of 10

No rest. Completed all in about 5 minutes or less.

A. Yoke Squat
710x8 - PR

B. Sandbag Carry/Farmers Walk x 50 ft. each
