I decided to cut another quarter inch off the sleeves of the new Ace bench shirt I am attempting to break in. The process is more challenging than I remember and taking longer than I expected. I attribute this to the fact that most of my bench shirts have been used and the new one I did get was a little big and had more forgiveness. What I can tell anyone who gets a new shirt is that you need to expect it to take some time. Wetting the sleeves, chest plate and collar does help while benching and for me trimming the sleeves is critical. Just cut a little at a time so you don’t cut more than needed. Todays training broke down like this…


Treadmill, reverse grip dumbbell press, Indian club swings, band pull aparts


Worked up to 320 for a double – raw
Put on Ace bench shirt
410 for a triple – air boarded
500 for 2 sets of 3 reps – very close to touching
520 for a double
550 for a single

Dumbbell rows

100 for 3 sets of 20 reps

Cable pushdowns

4 sets of 20

Horizontal military press

15’s for 3 sets of 10

I tweaked my right elbow while benching and shut things down early. I think the shirt sleeves are still a bit long and the material folded over itself and pinched right on the inside of my elbow. I don’t think it’s anything serious but didn’t want to push it.
