Deadlifts, Paused Deads, Squats & Events for Nationals

I am currently training to add some muscle mass and increase my strength during an off-season phase. My next competitive plans are undetermined at this time, but if my schedule allows I'll be doing NAS Strongman Nationals in October. I'm also adjusting to raising a new baby boy while still working, training and living life.

Yesterday was one of those sessions that everything feels heavy. It wasn't completely crappy, but it wasn't too good either. The thing is I don't let these bother me. They are going to happen. It's just part of training. So I just put in the work and called it a day.

On another note the events for NAS Strongman Nationals have been released. They are:

Day 1

Yoke- 60 feet, 60 sec

Press Medley- 60 sec, keg, axle, dumbbell, lift in order. One rep on the keg and one rep on the axle, then when they get to the dumbbell they must press away for as reps as possible.

Car Deadlift- 60 sec for reps

Medley- 60 sec, keg x 60 feet, farmers x 40 feet and duck walk x 20 feet. All implements must cross the line and be setting on the mat.

Day 2

Wheel Barrow Carry/Roll- 60 sec, push loaded wheel barrow across the line.

Keg Over Bar- 3 kegs, carry 20 feet and put the keg over a high bar.

Overall I like them alright. Weights haven't been released yet, but I'm hoping it's HEAVY. I'm still not 100% committed to competing yet, due to my wife traveling out of town for a mandatory work trip that same weekend and us having a new baby. But I haven't ruled it out yet either. Just waiting to see how things pan out. Who knows, little man may end up making a trip to Reno with me, ha.
