Deadlift Rep PR & Car Deadlifts
I am currently training for The 2014 North American Strongman (NAS) National Championship. It will be held Oct. 4th & 5th in Reno, NV. I'm also adjusting to raising a new baby boy while still working, training and living life.
Going into this session I was coming off yet another night of less sleep than usual. With my wife and I rotating nights getting up with little man it just so happened my night was Tuesday night and I was pulling on Wednesday. I was up from 3:30am-5:00am before my alarm went off at 6:00am. I trained clients from 7:00am until 12:00pm and then it was time to train. I wasn't feeling like training or feeling this session at all. So I downed some caffeine and my training partner Bo and I got started. When I pulled 405 it felt like 500. I didn't say anything and just kept going. When I finally got to my top end set I just hit the ammonia cap hard and pulled like hell. This resulted in a nice rep PR, but I was shot. I rested a good 20 minutes before moving on to "car" deadlifts. All in all I ended up having a pretty good day, I was just dragging a bit.

B. "Car" Deadlifts*
*I use the car deadlift apparatus and load it with big tires and add weight by adding 220# farmer cylinder handles we have. While the weight listed is the total weight on the implement, it's not the actual weight in hand. I can also increase the intensity by moving the implements and/or tire closer to the handles. This is how I'll progress this over these next two training blocks.
