Clean eating gone dirty
2 weeks out from my second strongman competition that will qualify me for Nationals.
I'm no expert when it comes to dieting, but through trial and error, I've been able to find what works for me. I actually learned about dieting from bodybuilders and made modifications to what works for my type of training.
Typical day :
First things first, coffee! For some reason, I have sudden urges to drop kick someone, if I don't drink my coffee.
5-7 meals a day, 25-30 grams of protein per meal, and 100-150 grams of carbs per day. During the day, I usually go low carbs with my proteins (fish, steak, chicken, eggs), and lots of veggies. Then at night, pre and post training is when I spike up my carb intake (potatoes, rice, rice cakes, pasta). I'm in the Korean beef with rosemary potatoes kick right now. So yummy!
I don't have a problem with maintaining or staying within my weight class range like I use to, so I get away with murder on the weekends. Wings, fries, burgers (yea, keep talking dirty).
You gotta live a little, right?
If you do have trouble maintaining, I would advise you to resist the temptations. Eat what you crave when you really want to -- to keep you sane.
This is not a hardcore diet or anything, but it seems to work as far as the results I want. I eat for strength but also balance my eating to look good.
Here's a mouth watering burger, because who likes a picture of chicken and veggies? Hashtag foreverbaconlover
With balance, you can achieve anything.
