Saturdays run through: medley and mentally

A week away from my second strongman competition that will qualify me for nationals.

Saturday’s training, which we usually run the medley, went smooth and easy. The heaviest things we did were the kegs tosses, and even those were light. We ran the medley with no weight, so we only focused on the momentum of how it would feel the day of competition. Light farmers walks, no weight on the axle press, a 10 lb plate on the power stairs, and 20 lbs on the one arm circus DB press followed by a little happy dance because when you can’t do heavy weight, you tend to go a little crazy in the head with too much energy.

I have to say, training with my girls at the Battleaxe has been such a great journey. We’ve worked so hard and we are ready as ever to hit the platform. I have to applaud my friend Star for kicking butt! There was an update on the event that there would be 2 different weights classes instead of open weight, and had increased the weight on all her lifts 3 weeks out. She adjusted her training and smashed it, no problem. My girl Nicole, who has been working on her circus DB press and finally got a 65 lb press. I admire your attitude and persistence! Then Mandy, you are just a natural beast! You definitely pushed me in ways you will never know.

Sleeping (taking it easy), clean eating (with lots of carbs), and mobility work will be my training for the next 6 days. October 18 is approaching and I want to be mentally ready to smash it, not only physically.
