Max effort bloat
October 18 - Roman and Roman Strongman competition that will qualify me for Nationals!
As I'm preparing for this weekends competition, making sure school work is done and my responsibilities at work are taken care of, I was asked -- why do you do what you do? (This was asked by the Psychiatrist I work with).
Hoping that she would understand why I do what I do by showing videos of my past competitions and trainings, all she responded was "jeez, doesn't your back hurt?"
Discipline, structure, and a sense of fulfillment.
I don't know about you but when I hit a PR or get that intense feeling when all eyes are on me, it's a pretty awesome feeling. It gives you a sense of fulfillment because you think "dahm, I didn't know I can do that" and you surpass those expectations you set for yourself. So to answer her question, I do what I do because it's my passion. I do it because -- why not. If you're good at something, or better yet, great at something, why not apply yourself?
Sometimes people are afraid of doing something they love because there might be disappointment down the road. But wouldn't it be worth while?
This may not apply to the Psychiatrist but it's something she can relate to. We all have passions, we all have feelings of integrity, and emotions within ourselves. No one may understand what you do, but if you can answer the question, why do you do what you do for yourself, then you're doing alright, alright, alright.
