Friday: Weightlifting and Squat PRs!

Currently undergoing Chemotherapy to treat Systemic Ulcerative Colitis as a last measure.

I am keeping up with my new programming and getting it all on paper and it is paying off.

warm ups
1 pull, 1 hang snatch
worked up to 105 kg but it wasn't pretty
...discovering a big weakness here

1 pull, 1 hang clean
worked up to 90 kg before I discovered that I couldn't hang clean! I can't put pressure on the floor with my feet, jump, explode, etc... All the stuff I'm supposed to do, I can't! Working from the hang is a great indicator that stuff is going wrong.

You can see in the video that my elbows still won't turn over on the clean. A lot of that has to do with me pulling with my arms before I extend up BUT my elbows don't extend straight.

I've been getting some great advice from my old coach, Charis Louca, and it is paying off. As usual he doesn't program everything that I do but he not only has a great way of diagnosing what is wrong but he can also explain to me how to do it correctly.

RANT: Everyone can tell you what is wrong but it takes a real genius to tell you HOW TO FIX IT!!!! Charis is one of those guys, one of the few.

After much frustration I was waiting for my wife to squat and wanted to do some more work with my cleans so I did some "no hook grip and no feet movement" cleans and they were Worlds Easier! My wrists turn, my grip will open, my upper body turns, no pain, etc... This is not the solution but it is a way of training and LEARNING!!!

Lots of work with 70 KG

215 KG x 5, probably a token PR
...I'm going to need more bumper plates to squat a PR soon.
