Bench for Reps Charlie Event and I'm stronger than Jo Jordan
Bags packed and I was headed to Orlando Friday night for the Bench for Reps Charlie Event hosted at Orlando Barbell. This was a double whammy trip -- my brother lives in Orlando and our schedules are so hectic, so we rarely have time to see one another.
EliteFTS Team member, Brian Schwab, shared Charlie's story and I couldn't help but think "if I have the ability to help others, why shouldn't I use it, use that ability?" Despite me not knowing Charlie personally, the fact that people were willing to get together and help a friend, was motivating in of itself and I think that is rare these days.
For those of you who don't know his story: "Charlie suffered a bad accident from being in the water and boat in 3 feet of water and has contusions C1-C5 and subluxation fractures C5 and C6! Right now Charlie can shrug his shoulders and open his eyes can not feel from his mid chest level down. Let's help a fellow Strongman/ Marine/Father/ Husband/Brother/Uncle/Son out and help him get the necessary therapy and medical treatment that he needs."
Brian Schwab, Trinity, and Orlando Barbell did an amazing job putting this event together. I believe they raised a total of about $7,000.
Girls that participated in the event had to do max reps with half of their bodyweight. I was able to accomplish 73 reps! though at the end of the video, it's funny to see me struggle with 65 lbs.
I am so proud of my brother's girlfriend, Kim, who killed it! Way to show your support. Side note -- She is prepping for the APF-AAPF Orlando Barbell Florida State Meet, as well. This will be her first meet!
The guys had to bench their body weight. Here's Brian Schwab benching it out!
I just wanted to put out there that Jo Jordan thought he could out rep me, and CLEARLY underestimated how strong this little mean machine is. By the way, you owe me dinner.
