Never underestimate smalls - taking it back to high school basketball
Just a little bit about me: if you don't know this already I use to play basketball and volleyball in high school. Short people tend to be setters in volleyball and point guards in basketball, and I was just that.
It was my dad's birthday this past Monday and what better way to spend time with him how we use to when I was a little girl. The polo's and colognes are quite frankly, getting old. Plus - I've been bugging him about playing for a couple of weeks now.
My aunt and dad picked me up, took me to get a brand new basketball, and then we headed to the park by my house.
Warming up and shooting around (horribly and laughing so hysterically that the person there left because they couldn't stand to look at us), we were ready to play our first and only game to 11 points. Longest game of my life. Powerlifters don't do cardio. We just lift from A to B and sometimes to C. That's the extent.
A fairly clean game was played (cause I totally didn't pick up my dad while playing defense to steal the ball), and although it looked like I won, I let my dad beat me for his birthday. Way to go, pops!
I did wish my brother was there. It reminded me of the times we bonded the most during my Junior and Senior year. He would take me to school at 5 in the morning, before class, to run drills. This is when I really wanted to play college basketball. It was nice to reminisce about the good times and a great escape from adult responsibilities.
Prepping for the APF-AAPF Orlando Barbell Florida State Meet - February 28, 2015. Qualified National Strongman competitor and will be competing this coming October, 2015. I am here to live, learn, and pass on.
Thank you for being a part of my journey. Suggestions and comments are always welcomed!
