APF Seniors

I finally finished a big meet! It wasn't my best performance but I did alright.

I couldn't believe how hot and humid it was up in Detroit and even in the hotel where the meet was being held. This concerned me because I sweat just thinking about sweating and all I could think about was what happened at the WPO semifinals a few years back. I pounded the fluids all day Saturday and Sunday and I still probably lost 10lbs.

Anyway, here's what I did...

Squat
opened with 960(it's not exact because I'm tooo lazy to convert to kilos)
2nd 1032
3rd 1060'ish (missed)

Bench
opened with 633
2nd 680'ish(missed, came up so fast I drove it back into the racks)
3rd 680'ish(missed again)

Deadlift
opened with 771
2nd 821(pr!)
3rd 832(missed, got out of groove)

Some thoughts...

I got to admit I was bit nervous going into this meet due to the fact of all the misfortunes I've had competing the national level the last few years. It was great seeing everyone there and meeting some new folks.

It was great to see Al Mehan lift again! The guy looks like he never missed a beat. I wish him the best with his comeback.

Joel Toranzo, Chris Taylor, and John Bernor, again, it was great talking to you guys and seeing you mangle the weights.

Big Clay, Craig Gallo and the rest of the Detroit Barbell gang, it was cool to hang out with ya and shoot the bull. You guys are the best!

Thanks...

A BIG THANKS goes out to Bob Coe(sp?), Joe Bayles, Tim Harold, and Eskil for handling me at the meet. I was in a pinch and these guys really came through for me.

Thanks to Dave and EliteFitnesssystems for their support and sponsorship.

Thanks to METAL sport gear. Their stuff is the best.

Another big thanks goes out to Russ Barlow for his talk with me at the ARNOLD. It really helped and I enjoyed talking to you at the Seniors.

And most of all, thanks to my wife! She has always been there for me. She puts up with my mood swings, gives me tons of support, picks me up when I'm down and plants a foot in my ass when I need it. I couldn't ask for a better wife, friend and sweetheart. Thanks Lori! I love you!

Time to get sexy,
Mike Ruggiera
