After reading Louie Simmons article in PLUSA today called "the forgotten weapon" I am confused. He states that at Westside they deadlift at least once a week and sometimes twice.......but ive read many times where he said that they only pull a heavy deadlift once every 6-8 weeks, and do speed pulls on friday?
Would it be affective to deadlift on ME day more often than once every 6-8 weeks?
Westside training is always changing and evolving. What they did back in 1999 when I first started training there is totally different from what they are doing now... from what I've heard.
What worked great for me was rotating my max effort lifts. One week I would hit some sort of squat, the next I would hit some type of pull, and maybe the next week a goodmorning. Once every 6 to 8 weeks would actually be a pull of the floor. The other max effort pull days, I would focus on rack work or pulling off a platform and such... something that would attack my weaknesses.
Speed pulls are very good and can be done every DE day for the squat.
